Black bags

Postby PaulEagles » Wed Feb 10, 2010 9:30 pm

I received an order today and the ground coffee was in a black bag with a sticker on saying that new bags are going to be launched in February.

Anyway, the ground coffee was using up the full space in the bag - right up to the sealed top and past the point where you can reseal the bag. The problem there is two fold. It was impossible to open the bag without chucking coffee over the kitchen and also with ground coffee going all the way to the top the bag can't be resealed as the seal doesn't work thanks to the ground coffee in the grooves.

Here's hoping that the new bags aren't these black ones.

Hi Paul

Sorry for the issues. This can some times happen with the old bags, I'm sorry its happened on this occasion. The ziplocks don't like ground coffee, and if the post office / fedex don't treat as they should they pop open.

Really sorry, the black bags are meant to be a fun lead into the new bags and a bit of excitement, and not a problem to you. :(

I hadn't thought about the Royal Mail Factor but that would explain it. This is the first time I've ordered ground coffee so hadn't seen the same thing with the white bags.

It also happens with beans in the white bags but this is not really a problem as the bag is airtight and can easily be resealed when opened. I also got one of my orders in a black bag with the New Bag sticker on. As it stands I would perfer the white bag although I don't know if the black bags will be labeled somewhat like the white ones are(writing on and such). I did notice the valve in the black bag seemed a little different, are they better at keeping the freshness intact?

Just a quick question about the valves - have they changed? the black bag I had and the red bags I've had since don't seem to let air out as readily as the white ones used to... is this:

a) intentional
b) unintentional
c) all in my head :|
